Newcastle up for sale, £481 million

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has put the club up for sale for £481 million. Following the departure of Kevin Keegan from the club last week, Ashley's position at the club has been under severe pressure and it appears now he is making serious plans to sell the club.

There has been several rumours about who will now come into takeover the club, with take of a Dubai based consortium interested in buying from Ashley however city sources doubt there is genuine interest from Dubai. "In reality Newcastle have been up for sale for the last six months. If there had been interest from Dubai it would already have surfaced.

"What makes it even more difficult is that Newcastle do not appear as a very saleable asset at the moment - the club has no manager, the fans are protesting and the team are struggling." This has all happened so quick at St James'. First Keegan departs, then the fans protest and then Ashley puts the club up for sale for a massive £481 million. What will happen next?
