United make move for Liverpool target

Manchester United have today made an unsuccessful move for Liverpool target David Silva. The Valencia striker has been linked with several moves to the Premier League after some superb displays for a victorious Spanish side in the European Championships.

Silva, 22, has been a long-term target of Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez but with Sir Alex Ferguson's problems in the striking department it comes as no surprise to see him move for the Spaniard. Silva is more than likely to leave the Mestalla this summer after the club revealed they are in financial difficulties.

Silva's agent Julio Llorente said: "United made an offer for David Silva, but this has been turned down by Valencia." I feel Silva would be a magnificent signing for United. It is likely that United will have to bid at least £20 million to force Valencia to sell and I think that is a fair price for a promising young player like Silva.
